Elena Kudelin LMFT is a highly experienced clinician with 15+ years of clinical experience in a variety of settings in the San Francisco Bay Area. After receiving her Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology at CIIS in SF in 2007, she interned for five years with Stanford University’s faculty. Elena completed an additional certification at SFCP at Stanford in 2010 and during 2014 - 2017 she was also an integral member of SFCP Psychotherapy Clinical Forum at Stanford.
Elena Kudelin’s therapy approach combines evidence-based approaches, such as:
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) - therapy that is highly effective for the treatment of trauma and PTSD. EMDR therapy facilitates the effective processing of traumatic or disturbing life experiences to its adaptive resolution. EMDR is also proven to be effective for a range of traumatic conditions:
physical and sexual abuse, accidents, childhood neglect, disturbing memories, nightmares, panic, chronic pain, stress, performance anxiety, and phobias. One of the most remarkable features of EMDR - the shorter treatment period compared to traditional talk therapies.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, DBT - teaches skills essential for building a strong, successful life in four main areas of functioning: emotion regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy - guides to reexamine the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors toward creating new healthier responses.
Psychodynamic/Psychoanalytic Therapy or “Depth Therapy” - helps gradually change maladaptive responses to stress and trauma into a variety of adaptive health-promoting responses.
Assessment scales - help assess the nature of symptoms by gathering quantitative and qualitative data on the client's functioning. Elena administers the following scales: Adults (BDI, Burns Anxiety), Couples (Gottman Relationship Analysis, Five languages of Love), and Adolescents (CDI-2, RCMAS, SCARED, ECBI, SESBI, School refusal).
