My down-to-earth, practical, non-judgemental personality influences my approach to therapy. I want to help people find realistic, effective ways to address issues in a safe and supportive environment. I graduated with a masters in clinical psychology from Griffith University, Australia. I have been living in the USA for over 20 years. I have been working in acute inpatient mental health settings, and outpatient substance abuse programs for over 20 years.
As a licensed marriage and family therapist I have experience with treating depression, anxiety, OCD, bipolar disorder, anger issues, substance abuse, and relationship issues in adults and adolescents. I am eternally curious and want to learn. As a result, I am currently working on certifications in emotion focused therapy and EMDR. I use cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, solution focused, collaborative, and person-centered therapy techniques to address presenting issues and start working immediately. I often assign homework to keep you moving forward between sessions. I will review progress made on initial goals and challenge you to set new goals for yourself. My personal philosophy is to always keep building skills in life. In my experience people can overcome challenging obstacles with the support of a caring therapist.
