I use an eclectic, positive approach to counseling adapting to the needs of each client. I have training in using cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, family systems, and object relations. I find that humor and artistic expression can be the release a person needs to express what is stuck inside them. I have experience working with children as a school-based therapist helping students understand being in special education, process the separation and divorce of parents, work on selective mutism, manage frustration tolerance, and develop their emotional intelligence. I have also worked in the community clinic with children and adolescents. I have found that kids best express themselves with art and through games when they cannot find the words to say what is wrong, or don’t know the names of the feelings they are experiencing. This is where the development of emotional intelligence comes in as well as cognitive behavioral therapy techniques. I look forward to working with you and resolving issues.
