Ketamine treatment at QRC

We at QRC believe in providing only the highest quality ketamine treatment to our clients to ensure you get the finest outcome possible.

 Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy - KAP
Psychedelics are being explored for their vast potential to treat anxiety, despair, trauma, and addictions after decades of neglect. Ketamine assisted psychotherapy is gaining acceptance in scientific circles. Quick Result Counseling (QRC) has remained at the forefront of this modality, and is now offering KAP.

 How does KAP work?
Ketamine was discovered in 1962 as a dissociative anesthetic. A growing amount of studies has demonstrated that employing ketamine treatment as an intervention for mental health issues, chronic pain, suicidal ideation, and psychological exploration can be beneficial. In March 2019, the FDA authorized ketamine as a treatment for treatment-resistant depression and extended the approval for treatment in adults with Major Depressive Disorder and acute suicidal ideation/behavior. Ketamine is largely regarded as one of the most significant contemporary mental health discoveries.
Ketamine interacts with the brain in a unique way that other antidepressants do not. It operates through distinct brain pathways that impact numerous neurotransmitters and can result in neuroplasticity. Rapid improvements in mood and pain symptoms are common. Instead of serotonin, ketamine affects the neurotransmitter known as glutamate. Ketamine causes the prefrontal cortex's synaptic plasticity to increase, which results in increased BDNF expression. This is thought to support the antidepressant effects of ketamine.

Above all, KAP is an intensive psychotherapy that addresses underlying feelings and rewires emotional memories. Ketamine relaxes prior habitual ways of thinking and updates the neurological system with fresh motivation and joy. It allows us to experience deep emotions. Defenses and anxieties were once necessary for our protection, but they are now engaged automatically, underneath our awareness. This is referred to as your "inner healing wisdom" by researchers.

 Who can benefit from KAP?
Anyone suffering from depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, chronic pain, and other rigid psychological patterns can benefit from KAP. Our certified psychotherapists will work with you to define your intention and achieve your objectives. This is a treatment that has been approved by the FDA.
Seniors: Having ketamine available as an option for treating depression in elderly clients could be the hope that many need to live the rest of their life in peace and happiness. We focus on working with seniors and/or their caregivers dealing with depression and anxiety surrounding end of life issues/fears.

 The process
Screening: 15 minutes Free
This is the time to ask questions and understand the process.  An intake form is requested if you would like to move forward with KAP.

Initial Consultation
We work together to figure out your goals and intention for the treatment session. You will be referred to a certified board physician to complete a medical assessment to assess your eligibility for treatment.

Medical Assessment
Safety is our priority. Our Board Certified medical physician will review your medical history to verify you are an appropriate candidate. *Ketamine treatment is not appropriate for those who have vascular disorders, who are currently pregnant, have experienced psychosis or schizophrenia, are currently experiencing mania, or are currently taking benzodiazepines, stimulants, or MAOI’s.

A prescription will be written and sent to a compounding pharmacy. Once filled, the medicine is mailed directly to you.

Preparation Session:
Prep-sessions assist in your mental, physical, and emotional preparation for healing or transformational work with ketamine. We will discuss your intention and assist in helping you understand the process of the medicine session. Topics typically covered during pre-treatment therapy sessions include:
Intention setting
Grounding practices before the treatment
Processing fears or doubts before the treatment
Strategies for managing the emotional material that arises during treatment
Pre-treatment regimen for preparing your mind and body for the work
Assessing risk
Creating adequate time in your schedule for treatment sessions and integration, and setting up your aftercare environment

Treatment Session
KAP medicine sessions last 2-3 hours. A certified therapist will be there for you during the entire ketamine session in office or via tele-psychotherapy. Although there are numerous administration methods, we use sublingual lozenges. The effects start to show up after about 15 to 20 minutes, peak for about 40 to 45 minutes and subsides within 1 to 2 hours. Ketamine can promote a positive change in mood, while other times it can bring subconscious material to the surface to be processed.

Integrative Psychotherapy:
Integrating involves working together within 3 days from the medicine treatment session. The most important aspect of KAP is learning how to use the inner healing wisdom you accessed in the sessions to discover your individual path to healing and personal growth. You are invited to investigate any metaphors, emotions, feelings, sensations, ideas, or symbols that surfaced during the session. These sessions will assist you in taking the knowledge you have acquired and applying it to your daily life.
Typical treatment frequency:  It is recommend a series of 6 ketamine treatments alongside of the integration sessions spaced over 8 weeks. Some changes can be seen after the first ketamine session, others see changes over 3-5 sessions. Regular boosters have been shown to prolong the positive benefits.
