I As a therapist, I bring my authentic self into the therapeutic process. In each session, I aim to be compassionate, warm, joyful, curious, and strategic. In therapy, you are invited to access every emotion of the human experience in a safe and understanding environment. I draw from treatment modalities, such as psychodynamic therapy, narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and solution-focused therapy. My goal as a therapist is to impart the tools and insight for you to be your own therapist by the time therapy has ended. Not only will we be exploring and developing insight into the symptoms and behaviors affecting you, but we will develop a gameplan for how to address each challenge in pursuit of becoming your truest self.
My clinical experience is in treating depression, anxiety, self-esteem, acculturation issues, cultural trauma, life transitions, guilt and shame, perfectionism, addiction, and men’s issues. My niche is working with Asian Americans in overcoming various challenges, embracing authenticity, and developing insight and wisdom into their unique journeys.
I graduated with my bachelor's degree in Biology with plans to attend medical school, but I realized that Psychology was my passion. I received my Masters in Marriage & Family Therapy at Pacific Oaks College and my PsyD at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. In my free time, I am an NBA and martial arts fanatic and a film buff as well. I am a self-described nerd and consume various art forms from mythology to geek pop-culture. I believe that our lived experiences are echoes of myths and legends that have perpetuated in our culture and consuming these narratives provides the advantage of understanding and relating to the plight of others. We all come with our own stories and baggage about who we are and where we came from. Oftentimes those stories are steeped in many hardships and chaos that it makes life difficult to manage. I believe that life will challenge us to rewrite our stories and it is never too late. Everyone loves an underdog story or a redemption arc. If you choose to embark on this journey of self-discovery, I would be honored to travel alongside you.
